DIARMUID GAVIN GARDEN FEATURING SHOMERA PAVILION WINS SILVER GILT AT CHELSEA

Diarmuid Gavin’s garden entry has won a Silver Gilt medal at the Chelsea Flower Show. The centrepiece of the garden is a stunning pavilion which was designed by Diarmuid Gavin and manufactured and constructed by Shomera. The substantial pavilion structure was the main element of Diarmuid’s garden design entry at Chelsea this week. A mix of enclosed and outdoor spaces, the Shomera design incorporates two garden studios which serve as work or relaxation rooms along with outdoor roofed space.

“I’m thrilled to have won the Silver Gilt medal and would like to thank Shomera for their hard work in helping me to create the pavilion. The garden was designed for an active and artistic couple. The pavilion has two wings that intersect, providing two glass studio spaces, each with its own deck overlooking a pond. I approached Shomera as I have been an admirer of their high quality, innovative design for many years and was very keen to have a full Irish team involved in this entry at Chelsea. I am very impressed with how Shomera’s expertise has brought my design to life in a way that has excited and stimulated all visitors to the garden” says Diarmuid Gavin.

Frank O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Shomera was honoured to be involved with the winning garden. “We have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with Diarmuid and his team who have designed a very unique product. It incorporates all of the best elements of a Shomera Studio along with Diarmuid’s creative garden design talent. The design added a real wow factor to Chelsea this year and we are very proud to have contributed to Diarmuid’s winning garden”.

Shomera was founded ten years ago by Irish engineer Frank O’Sullivan. The company specialises in additional living spaces – originally as studios in the garden separate from the house, but now also as an extension to the house due to demand for such a product. Using an eight layer insulation system, Shomera prides itself on the high specification of its products. All Shomera Studios and Extensions are designed and manufactured off site at the company’s headquarters in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath. The pavilion for Diarmuid Gavin’s garden was manufactured and pre-constructed in Dunshaughlin before being transported to Chelsea.

This is not Shomera's first foray into the UK market, the company has a sales agent in the London area trading under the name Rooms Outdoor. Shomera opened the company's first show village at their headquarters in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath which has recently been joined by a second village at Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow. The company plans to open further show villages througout Ireland over the coming year.
